ICC Gives Green Signal To Interim Committee At SLC

Written by Rohit Pawar

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has given its thumbs up to Interim Committee at Sri Lanka Cricket Board (SLC) in extreme circumstances the board has been facing right now, Cricket Age reliably learns.

Thilanga Sumathipala led administration had to leave SLC in a embarrassing way, after The Court of Appeal Gave a stay order on AGM, was scheduled to be held on May 31st.

On the wake of those developments, On Wednesday, A very productive meeting was held between Sri Lanka Sports Faiszer Mushthapha and Chairman of ICC Mr. Shashank Manohar at the ICC head office in Dubai.

“The Cricket governing body has told Mr. Mustapha that If the Sri Lanka Judiciary thinks it’s the right way to clean up SLC and also keeping a court case against Mr. Sumathipala in mind, the Interim Committee can be appointed” A top placed ICC Official told Cricket Age in term of animonity.

Right now, SLC is under the supervision of Sports Ministry appointed Competent Authority. The next hearing of court case against Sumathipala, filed by former SLC secretary Nishantha Ranatunga, is on June 14.

Right after the meeting between ICC Chairman Mr. Shashank Manohar and Faizer Mustapha, there were plenty of false news, reports making rounds in Sri Lanka, stating that ICC has opposed against Interim committee. Cricket Age understands that all those false rumors, news were circulated by former SLC Treasurer Shammi Silva, who has always been notorious for non accounting related matters.
