Angry With Coach Hathurasingha, Sri Lanka Selectors Offers Resignation

The differences between Sri Lanka selection committee and head coach Chandika Hathurasingha are widening with each passing day. Completely humiliated by the dictatorship of Hathurusingha, The chairman of selectors Asantha De Mel along with his fellow selectors Brendon Kurruppu and Chaminda Mendis, met Sports Minister Harin Fernando on Thursday and complained about the Coach, Cricket Age reliably learns.

Currently, Sri Lanka is in Australia involving in two test match series.

According to sources, Selectors have raised their concern regarding Hathurusingha’s monopoly in the selection process. Raising questions over many selection blunders during recently concluded New Zealand tour, selectors have clearly told Sports Minister that they feels humiliated by continues ignorance in finalizing the squad and wants to immediately resigns from the selection committee.

However, Harin told them to not take the extreme step in the middle of the Australian tour and opined that he will bring a certain condition in the selection process, where the decision of the majority of the selection committee would be implemented.

It is noteworthy that right from the beginning, Hathurusingha has taken over all the cricket related decision making powers. After getting a whopping 7.5 million as monthly salary, under his supervision, Sri Lanka team has slipped behind Bangladesh and Afghanistan. On January 16, Cricket Age had exposed how Hathurasingha charged a whopping 60,000 USD from the SLC for just an assessment report of the national team. More shockingly, as per his contract, Hathurusingha is entitled to get 1,20,000 USD in a year for submitting two reports!
