“What Is It With SRH?”: Sachin Tendulkar After his Prediction Goes Wrong

Written by Mohan Sharma

The Sunrisers Hyderabad once again proved to be one of the strongest teams to beat in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024, posting a total of over 260 runs for the third time this season. After SRH set 266/7 on the board, their bowlers also stood up and delivered, restricting Delhi Capitals to just 199, hence winning the match by 67 runs. However, this isn’t the result that Indian cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar had hoped for. In a post on social media after Sunrisers’ fiery start to the match, Sachin had predicted DC’s comeback win. But, the result turned out to be completely different. (IPL 2024 Points Table)

The Sunrisers posted 125 runs in the powerplay, a T20 cricket record, leaving the entire cricketing fraternity shell-shocked. Tendulkar, however, still believed in the Rishabh Pant-led side to make a comeback.

On X (formerly Twitter), Sachin wrote: In spite of this phenomenal start by @SunRisers, I have a feeling @DelhiCapitals have a good chance to win this game. How many of you agree?”.

As the match ended in Hyderabad’s favour and Sachin’s prediction fell flat, he wrote on X: “What is it with @SunRisers that they’ve gotten past 260 thrice in this season alone! Today was a game where they completely outclassed @DelhiCapitals. They, of course, batted well thanks to a mind-boggling start by @travishead34 & @IamAbhiSharma4 and a wonderful finish by Shahbaz. And in the 2nd half of the game, they bowled much better than DC, with their variations proving to be very effective. Well played, SRH!”

The Sunrisers have already scored ‘record’ totals of 277 and 287 in the IPL 2024. Their batting unit, especially the likes of Travis Head, Abhishek Sharma and Heinrich Klaasen, have done wonders since the start of the tournament, making the franchise one of the favourites to go the distance.
