Sports Minister yet to approve Sri Lanka’s Emerging Asia Cup squad!

Written by N Krishnamurthy

Sri Lanka’s Sports Minister Roshan Ranasinghe is yet to approve Island’s squad for the Emerging Asia Cup, which is scheduled to kick off on Thursday (July 13), Cricket Age reliably learns.

The 8 nation tournament will be played in Sri Lanka from13th to 23rd July.

All the participating teams – India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, Nepal, Oman and UAE have already arrived in Sri Lanka! However, even though the squad was sent to Sports Ministry on 23rd Itself, Ranasinghe is not bothered to approve it as yet!

Cricket Age understands that earlier Sports Ministry was used to approve squads within few days itself. However, during Roshan Ranasinghe’s tenure, getting any sort of Ministry approvals is like climbing a mountain for the cricket board!

Obviously, it hampers Board’s preparation big time. Ministry’s ignorance leaves SLC in lurch in getting Visa approvals, logistics arrangements on time! Like during recently Japan tour of Island’s Emerging team, when the Ministry’s approved squad was sent three hours before the departure!
