Rahmanullah Gurbaz, Ibrahim Zadran (Afghanistan), Rilee Rossouw, Lungi Ngidi (South Africa), Naseem Shah, Abdullah Shafique (Pakistan) are among over 200 top international players who have registered themselves for the upcoming fifth edition of the Lanka Premier League (LPL) 2024, Cricket Age reliably learns.

In addition, Tamim Iqbal, Littan Das, Umar Akmal, Haris Sohail, Reeza Hendricks, David Wiese, Ben Lister, Johnson Charles, Imam-Ul-Haq, Tasikn Ahmed, Paul Stirling are some of the well known foreign players who have also registered themselves for the Island’s T20 league.

Originally, more then 390 overseas players registered themselves for the LPL, however, the list was brought down around 200, based on participation criteria. The registration process has been divided into two categories: capped and uncapped players. A player, who has played atleast one T20I, ODI or test for his country, is considered capped. An uncapped player must play first class cricket or T20 in a franchise league, sanctioned by the International Cricket Council (ICC).

Along with foreign players, around 120 Sri Lanka Cricketers will also be available for the league, whose names will be shortlisted by Upul Tharanga led selection committee. In addition, each domestic club has also been instructed to nominate 3 players, except for those who will be picked by selectors.

The 5th edition of the LPL is scheduled to be played from 1 to 21 July. The deadline for the players registration is 26 April.
