Galle Cricket Club’s (GCC) notorious secretary Ruwan Galappaththy has now been accused of lending club’s money on ten percent Interest.
Cricket Age, on April 6, had published that due to Galappaththy’s deliberate and willful act of neglecting constitution amendment directions and several formal communications from the Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) for an entire one year, one of the oldest and most prestigious GCC now stands on the verge of suspension.
Now, it has learned that Galappaththy unauthentically withdrew GCC’s 2.1 million without the knowledge of club’s president and Executive Committee (ExCo).
Moreover, the accusations are that he lent that club money to others on ten percent interest, as it’s his main profession!
The GCC ExCo, on March 29, discussed his financial irregularities and eventually he had to step down from his position and return back the club’s money.
However, the real game began thereafter! Knowing that the financial year ends on March 31, he paid back the club’s money. Then, while the Inquiry was still pending against him, an ExCo meeting was again called without the knowledge of club president and other major stakeholders and Galappaththy was reinstated as secretary, by making a mockery of the club’s constitution!
