English fans troll Kohli after India exhaust all reviews

Written by Rohit Pawar

England fought back well after disappointing first innings as the hosts rode on skipper Joe Root’s brilliant 109 to post 303 runs on the board in their second innings of the ongoing first Test against India in Nottingham. Root played a gritty knock and held the crease from one end while forging crucial partnerships with the likes of Jonny Bairstow, Daniel Lawrence, and others.

The Indian pacers, who had impressed in the first innings, were way off the mark in the second but eventually did manage to get all ten wickets after facing some hiccups. The hiccups included some poor reviews which didn’t go in India’s favour as captain Virat Kohli became a subject to taunts from the English fans present in the stands at the Trent Bridge.

Root was batting on 97 when Mohammed Siraj thought he had trapped him lbw and convinced Kohli to take a review. As it turned out, the impact was outside and India lost their last remaining review in the game. Later in England’s second innings, Kohli was left with no choice when he could have used a review for potential dismissal.

English fans in the crowd, were seen making hand gestures of the DRS signal as they took a pot shot at the Indian captain and trolled him for exhausting all reviews. The picture of the fans trolling Kohli was shared by a fan on Twitter.

It has been an entertaining contest so far between the two sides with both India and England giving their all in the series-opener. After bundling out the hosts for 303 runs in their second innings, India were handed a target of 209 runs to win the Test match and take a 1-0 lead in the five-match series.
