India are set to kickstart their home series against Bangladesh with the first of the three-match T20I series scheduled to be played on November 3 (Sunday) at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi. With stand-in captain Rohit Sharma brushing off the injury scare ahead of the series opener, the Hitman will become the most-capped Indian T20I player when he takes to the field for the Delhi T20I. Rohit is all set to surpass former India captain MS Dhoni’s tally of 98 T20Is for India in the T20I series opener against Bangladesh. Rohit will be playing his 99th T20I match on Sunday and will move to the 2nd on the list of players with most T20I appearances. Only Shoaib Malik (111) is ahead of Rohit, who will be joint 2nd along with former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi (99) after the Delhi T20I.

Rohit on Saturday reflected on his long journey in the shortest format of the game. The Hitman made his debut in the T20 World Cup in 2007 and has been a mainstay in the Indian team in T20Is. While reflecting on his journey, Rohit said that there have been so many things that he has learned in the past 12 years in the shortest format of the game while adding that it has been a fruitful journey for him with the Men in Blue.

“It’s been a long journey since 2007 when I made my debut in the T20 World Cup. It’s been a long journey which has had a lot of ups and downs as well. There’s been so many things that I have learned in the last 12 years I have played this format. Today, I sit here with heads on my shoulder,” Rohit Sharma said in the pre-match press conference.
