Unmukt Chand recalled to Delhi Ranji Trophy for home fixture

Former India U-19 World Cup winning captain Unmukt Chand has made his comeback to Delhi Ranji Trophy team. The right-handed batsman has been called after Delhi’s loss to Kerala, where the Dhruv Shorey-led team lost to the hosts on the third day of the game itself.

Unmukt’s previous Ranji Trophy appearance came against Karnataka in 2017/18 season. He was later dropped from the playing XI and wasn’t named in the four-day squad for this season. However, poor performances from others have seen selectors going back to the talented batsman.

Apart from the comeback of Unmukt, Delhi have been bolstered by the comebacks of skipper Nitish Rana, Himmat Singh, Kulwant Khejroliya and Navdeep Saini.

This will be Delhi’s first home game after the retirement of Gautam Gambhir, who was a part of the drawn contest against Andhra Pradesh.

Delhi, the runner-up of 2017/18 Ranji Trophy season, are currently placed at the seventh position with just seven points in their account.
