Harassment Charges against CEO Ashley De Silva Rocks SLC

Written by Rohit Pawar

A former lady employee of Sri Lanka Cricket Board (SLC) has been fighting a case against the CEO of the board Ashley De Silva and ExCo, Cricket Age reliably learns. Though, Ashley is trying his best to avoid the Court Proceedings, as he has given tame excuses in last few hearings of the case.

According to sources, Ashley has fired that lady employee last on the behalf of SLC, by accusing her for Misbehaviour, even though the lady was contracted with SLC for two years. Ashley not only fired the lady employee, he even sent a showcased letter to her on 3rd June 2016, again on the behalf of SLC.

In response, the lady has moved to court and lodged a case against her Termination by naming Ashley De Silva and SLC.

She has made some serious accusations, particularly against Ashley and dragged him with ‘Mental Harassment’ Charges.

“I have worked at SLC with previous administratorsas well, Sidath Wettimuny and Nishantha Ranatunga in particular. But there was never any issues regarding my behavior. But, under Thilanga Sumathipala regime, Ashley De Silva started harassing me” she told Cricket Age.

The most Shocking thing in the entire episode, is now Ashley has been avoiding Court proceeding. One of the hearing was scheduled on 27th September, when Ashley had to come and give witness against lady. But he didn’t come, citing he was busy with Cricket Commitments.

Again, during the latest hearing on 2nd November, Ashley didn’t come. This time around, he gave the excuse that he was unwell. Surprisingly, two days ago, on 31st October, Ashley was sitting and smiling at a press briefing, and he even announced during the briefing that allrounder Asela Gunaratne and Kusal Perera are ready for India tour.

The lady has demanded a hefty amount as the compensation as well, but Ashley is trying his best to negotiate things out of the court, which is a serious case of disrespect to judiciary.
