Just before the Champions trophy, Former Australia captain Ricky Ponting has attacked on Virat Kohli and put all the blames for RCB poor showing in the IPL on him. Ponting said that the reason for Royal Challengers Bangalore misery in IPL 2017 has been the failure of the key players. He especially pointed out Virat Kohli for his team’s failure, saying that the Indian captain has done next to nothing.
Ponting said that last year, the big guns of RCB fired together and this was the secret of their success, which is what they lacked this year. He said,
“They got on an amazing roll at the back end of last year’s tournament when Kohli was playing out of his skin, de Villiers was playing well, Gayle was chipping in and Watson was doing a good job with bat and ball.”
“But so far Kohli has done next to nothing, there have been flashes in the pan from Gayle and AB de Villiers, but the consistency just hasn’t been there.”
