Sumathipala manipulates to put SLC Tier B tournament on hold

Written by N Krishnamurthy

Even though Thilanga Sumathipala has been done and dusted with Sri Lanka Cricket, he has not yet ready to let it prosper! In every possible way, Sumathipala is trying hard to unstable cricket in the country! Just yesterday, he openly criticised selectors decision to appoint Lasith Malinga as shorter formats captain. He even tried to unsettle the team by saying that team would be divided in Malinga’s captaincy.

And now it has emerged that Sumathipala has also manipulated things to put SLC tier B tournament on hold!

According to sources, the tournament, which was scheduled to start from December 21, has been put on hold due to a court order obtained by Nugegoda cricket club. The club was demanding to be promoted to Tier B, with claims by its officials that they are one of the semi finalist in division two tournament. According to sources, Sumathipala has long been supporting the club and unethically pushing it to tier B.

The tournament committee, led by Samantha Dodanwela, refused to promote the Nugegoda club as per the SLC playing conditions and regulations. However, instead of accepting the right decision of tournament committee, the club unnecessarily went to court and now all 8 teams are suffering due to their unethical move.

According to sources, Sumathipala is controlling the club from behind the scenes and Ashley De Silva, SLC CEO and his loyal, is carrying his orders!
