Sourav Ganguly backs Virat Kohli to take Royal Challengers Bangalore forward in IPL

Written by Rohit Pawar

Royal Challengers Bangalore have witnessed a nightmare of a start to their Indian Premier League (IPL) 2019 campaign as they have lost all of their first four fixtures of the ongoing season. Former Indian skipper and now the advisor for Delhi Capitals – Sourav Ganguly – has said that he doesn’t rule RCB out as there is still a lot of cricket to be played in IPL 2019.

“He played well last season, I think it’s a passing phase for him this season. The amount of runs he’s (Virat) scored for India, I guess no player is close to that. He needs to take the backseat and think with a calm and composed mind with the team. There are still matches ahead. I won’t rule out RCB as there is still time and I hope to see him take the team forward,” Ganguly told IndiaTV.

Kohli as a batsman hasn’t looked at his best of forms with just 78 runs to his name in four matches of IPL 2019. With the 2019 World Cup approaching hard and fast, Kohli’s form might worry a lot of Indian cricket fans. Whereas RCB, as a team, has looked out of depth and clueless on the field as they have been outplayed and outclassed by almost all the teams they have faced so far.

RCB will look to get their IPL 2019 back on track when they take the field at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium to face Kolkata Knight Riders on Friday.
