Angelo Mathews To Captain Board President XI Against South Africa

Sri Lanka have named Allrounder Angelo Mathews as the captain of the Sri Lanka President XI team to play warm up match against touring South Africa. The match will be played on the 07th and 08th July, 2018 at the P. Sara Oval Grounds in Colombo.

Mathews had to return from the West Indies after the first test for the birth of his second child. Sri Lanka Chief selector Graeme Labrooy has maintained his ‘Picking players from nowhere’ policy intact, as this time around he has picked Young Avishka Fernando in the squad. A talented right hander, Avishka had debuted against Mitchell Stark during 2016 ODI Series. Since then, he had been thrown into wilderness. Now, Labrooy has again discovered him, that means Now it’s Mahela Udawatte term to again disappears, after chief selector mysteriously picked him as an test opener for recently concluded test series against West Indies.

Young wicket keeper batsman Minod Bhanuka has also been included in the squad, while Young fielding sensation Ashen Bandara and spin bowling allrounder Wanindu Hasaranga have been put as reserve players.
