Amidst the ongoing false rumors of a financial crisis situation within the organization on the operational front, the Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) today (August 1) received it’s accounts (audited financial statements for the fiscal year 2024) from the Auditor General’s department of the Island, Cricket Age Exclusively learns. Accordingly, it will be submitted to International Cricket Council (ICC), for the governing body to release annual funds.
The SLC yesterday completely falsified the misleading claims circulating across some news and social media outlets over the past couple of days.
Notably, the false claims surfaced across the channels as Sri Lanka prepares itself to co-host the upcoming Men’s T20 World Cup in 2026 alongside its neighboring nation India. The SLC, thus, came forward to address the baseless reports and has also confirmed that the financial operations within the organization are completely stable and sound enough to be preparing for the marquee T20I event.
The release further mentioned that the aim of SLC is to ensure an upgradation and restoration of its venues across the country in a bid to match the international standards for the T20 World Cup. It further aims at the enhancement of the cricketing infrastructure in the country, even at the grassroots level. The Lankan body is further committed to opting for environment-friendly options like the installation of solar-powered devices and contribute to a sustainable future.
