BCCI plans ODI, T20Is series against Sri Lanka In August

Written by Sumit Seth

The Board of Control for Cricket in India  (BCCI) are in talks with Cricket Sri Lanka to play three ODIs and as many T20Is in the month of August. The Sri Lankan board’s decision to postpone the 2025 Lankan Premier League, originally scheduled to take place in July-August has cleared the way for the series.

This series idea came up because India’s white-ball tour to Bangladesh got pushed back. It was supposed to happen in August 2025 with three ODIs and three T20Is, but now it’s moved to September 2026 because of some planning stuff. So, India suddenly had some free time in their schedule.

“The discussions are ongoing between the BCCI and the Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) regarding a potential six-match series, which would consist of three ODIs and three T20Is” a top placed BCCI sourced told Cricket Age.

The last time the Men in Blue visited the island nation was way back in 2024, which also began Gautam Gambhir’s stint as the head coach of the national team. The Men in Blue did win the T20I series but then the host clinched the three-man ODI series by 2-0.

Although an official announcement is yet to be made for the upcoming series, fans of both teams are eagerly waiting for the thrilling action if everything falls into place. Cricket Age understands that an announcement will be made soon once the logistical issues and the broadcast-related issues have been solved.
