Lahore T20 fiasco a complete failure of SLC

Written by Rohit Pawar

Prior to much awaited t20 series between Sri Lanka and Pakistan, there are some untimely and unnecessary controversies taking place. During the third t20, scheduled to be played at Gaddafi Stadium Lahore, the international cricket will be returned to Pakistan, as Sri Lanka will become the first top cricket playing nation to play there, after the 2009 terror attack, interestingly against the same team!

But, now there are reports that Sri Lanka players don’t want to play in Pakistan. Actually, players signed a letter and sent it to SLC, mentioning their refusal to play in Lahore t20.

Clearly, this has turned out as a big embarrassment and a complete failure for SLC.

The board announced Lahore as the venue for the third T20 match in July itself. Ideally, before announcing, they must have to consult with the players.

In other prospective, Sri Lanka players also knows about the fixture since July. Ideally, they also must have to show their reservations at the beginning itself.

By doing so, both the parties could have easily avoid the unnecessary controversy.

Now, as team is already playing ODI series against Pakistan, this is an unfortunate way to refuse to play Lahore T20.

Now, both the parties : SLC and Players, have already lost the golden opportunity to win the millions of hearts worldwide by supporting Pakistan.

Now, if players stand firm on their decision, SLC will have only two options : to ask PCB to change the venue or to send a second string team.

In both ways, they are bound to face embarrassment.

Not only this, now even if the best team will agree to play in the match somehow, they won’t be able to get that kind of support from the Pakistani fan, they could have without this controversy.

Reason, now they will know, these players didn’t want to play here, their board forced them to play!

All in all, SLC made it a big mess up and a big embarrassment!
