Rohit Sharma Returns To The Nets, Gears Up For ODI Return

Written by Rohit Pawar

It’s been 75 days since Rohit Sharma played competitive cricket. He last appeared for the Mumbai Indians in the second qualifier of IPL 2025. During the tournament, he announced his Test retirement via a social media post, and since then, speculations have been rife about his cricketing future. Meanwhile, several media reports have suggested that the upcoming white-ball tour of Australia could be his last. But far away from the noise, the Hitman has been focusing on his game as he returned to the nets lately.

Rohit Sharma is working tirelessly before he returns to the field. He has been training with his old friend and well-known coach Abhishek Nayar. In a recent video that’s gone viral, the 38-year-old can be seen sweating it out at a Mumbai stadium, showing just how serious he is about his return.

The Indian ODI skipper has been training lately with Nayar in Mumbai. A few days ago, Rohit took to his Instagram handle and shared a picture with the former India batting coach in which both can be seen in the gym, which is an indication that he has kicked off his preparations for India’s upcoming white-ball tour of Australia.

The Indian men’s cricket team will travel to Australia in the third week of October to take part in a three-match ODI series, which will be followed by five T20Is between the two teams in Australia.

Rohit last turned out for India in ODIs on March 9, 2025, against New Zealand in Dubai. Opening the innings in the ICC Champions Trophy final, he led the chase of 252 with a classy 76 off 83 balls. His stellar knock in the title clash earned him the Player of the Match award.
