Afghanistan’s spin sensation Rashid Khan made a sizzling return to competitive cricket on Tuesday, carving his name into T20 history. The leg-spinner on Tuesday became the first bowler to grab 650 wickets in T20s. Rashid achieved this feat on debut for the Oval Invincibles in The Hundred 2025.
The ace leggie spun a web around the London Spirit batters at Lord’s on Tuesday. Rashid made his presence felt with a three-wicket haul, dismissing Wayne Madsen, Ryan Higgins, and Liam Dawson. He returned figures of 3 for 11 in just 20 balls, becoming the highest wicket-taker in T20 history. He certainly extended the record he set during the SA20 earlier this year, surpassing West Indies legend Dwayne Bravo for most wickets in T20 cricket.

Rashid was adjudged the Hero of the Match for his exceptional spell. Speaking in the post-match presentation, the leg spinner said, “It was nice to get off to a winning start, it was good to perform for the side.”
Rashid missed out on the Major League Cricket (MLC) in the USA after featuring in the IPL 2025 for the Gujarat Titans. Speaking about the short break, he said,
“Physically and mentally to get myself ready for the next competition, IPL is a long tournament, it helped me to think about how to prepare going ahead. It was a good surface, there was spin on offer, and when I was bowling, I was trying to hit the right areas. I mixed things up and it worked out well.”
