India suffered a major blow in the middle of their must-win fourth Test at Old Trafford as star wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant is likely to be ruled out of the remainder of the series.
Pant’s scan report has revealed a toe fracture which will rule him out of action for six weeks. Pant injured his right foot while attempting a reverse sweep against Chris Woakes during the opening day of the 4th Test between India and England in Manchester.
The BCCI medical team is now reportedly exploring the option of Pant being able to bat after taking painkillers though chances of it happening appear bleak.
“The scan report showed a fracture, and he is ruled out for six weeks. The medical team is trying to see if he can come out to bat again by taking a pain killer. He still needs support to walk though and chances of his batting looks very bleak,” The Indian Express quoted a source as saying.
It effectively rules him out of the remainder of the England tour with the fifth and final Test of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy slated to be held from July 31 at The Oval in London.
