The uncertainty over the upcoming Asia Cup 2025 is getting clearer with a latest report claiming that the continental tournament is likely to be held from the first week of September. There was a big question mark over the fate of this year’s Asia Cup given the border tensions between India and Pakistan after a dastardly terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam which left 26 dead. In response to the attack, India launched a military operation targeting terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (PoK).
Now, as per Timesofindia.com, Asia Cup is set to begin from September 5 and will be held in UAE with BCCI keeping the hosting rights. A 17-day window has been given for the competition that will feature India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, Bangladesh and UAE.
As per the initial schedule, India and Pakistan will square-off on September 7. As per the publication, all teams are in the process of getting clearances from their respective governments to take part in the tournament.
This year’s edition will be played in T20I format with the title clash expected to be held on September 21. A group stage will give way to Super Fours with the top-two teams from the second round advancing into the final.
