Sri Lanka Bring In Dunith Wellalage, Vishwa Fernando For 2nd Test Against Bangladesh

Written by Rohit Pawar

Left-arm spinner Dunith Wellalage and left-arm fast bowler Vishwa Fernando have been added to Sri Lanka squad for the second Test against Bangladesh, which starts on July 25 at the Sinhalese Sports Club Cricket Ground in Colombo.

Left-arm spinner Dunith Wellalage has played just one Test match so far in his career. He made his debut against Pakistan but couldn’t pick up any wickets. Still, Sri Lanka seem to be backing his talent and giving him another opportunity to prove himself in the longer format.

Vishwa Fernando has already played 27 Test matches and taken 79 wickets. His inclusion adds strength to Sri Lanka’s pace attack, especially with the Colombo pitch expected to offer some assistance to seamers early on.

The first Test against Bangladesh in Galle ended in a draw on June 21. Despite Bangladesh having the upper hand for most of the game, rain interruptions prevented them from forcing a result.

After the second Test, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh will face off in a limited-overs series consisting of three ODIs (July 2, 5, 8) and three T20Is (July 10, 13, 16).
