Legendary England fast bowler James Anderson has registered himself for the upcoming Big Bash League (BBL) draft set to be held on June 19. Sidhharth Kaul is the only India in the list released by Cricket Australia (CA), which features more than 600 players.
Anderson recently made a comeback to T20 cricket after 11 years as he bowled a tidy spell for Lancashire in Vitality T20 Blast. The 42-year-old finished with figures of 3 for 17, helping Lancashire restrict Durham to 150 for 6.
Anderson could well become the oldest overseas player to be picked in the BBL draft if he manages to spark the interest of any team during the draft. He will also become the second-oldest player ever in BBL history after Brad Hogg (46 years, 350 days).
Earlier, Anderson also registered his name for the Indian Premier League 2025 (IPL 2025) mega auction and the Hundred a draft in March. However, he failed to find any buyers on both occasions. On his return to T20 cricket in the Vitality T20 blast, Anderson was seen in terrific form, having scalped ten wickets from four innings for Lancashire.
Hence, it remains to be seen if his performance would be enough for Anderson to get buyers in the BBL draft where a total of 178 players from England have registered. Apart from them, 74 players from Pakistan, 42 from the West Indies, 13 from Sri Lanka have also registered their interests, with Sidhharth Kaul being the only Indian.
