Defamatory Claim: Court refuse SLC president Shammi Silva’s Interim Injunction Appeal Against Arjuna Ranatunga

The Application for an Interim Injunction was refused today by the District Judge of Colombo in case instituted by Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) President Shammi Silva against World Cup winning captain Arjuna Ranatunga over an alleged defamatory claim, Cricket Age Exclusively learns.

President’s Counsel Dr. Romesh De Silva, President’s Counsel Mr. Kuvera De Zoysa, and Mr. Pasindu Bandara Attorney At Law, instructed by Sanjaya Fonseka for Mr. Shammi Silva, the plaintiff. Senior counsel Mr. Athula Bandara Herath appeared along with Ms. Ama Karunaratne, Mrs. Chathusala Jayasinghe, and Mr. Prasad Sirimanne, instructed by Mrs. Nirosha Herath for Mr. Arjuna Ranatunga, the defendant.

Shammi Silva had sued Ranatunga for Rs 6 billion in May 2021. It was over an alleged defamatory statement made by the Iconic captain against Shammi in a video, referring him as being corrupt.
