Sri Lanka Cricket donates 10 million to Netball Association Through Ministry!

Island’s Sports Ministry reportedly recieved a whopping 10 million from the Lanka Cricket (SLC) as donation for the Netball association, Cricket Age Exclusively learns.

According to sources the donation was for senior Netball team’s participation in recently concluded World Cup in Cape Town, South Africa.

Interestingly, another donation was given to Sports Ministry by the SLC for the Asian youth Netball championship held at South Korea as well.

It has emerged that even for the Asian Youth Netball Championship before the World Cup, cash strapped Sports Ministry didn’t have money to buy players flight tickets even! So much so that each player had to buy ticket on their own, costing 3 lakh. Later, after receiving donation from the SLC, Ministry paid the ticket price money to Netball players!

It’s rather strange, as Sports Minister Roshan Ranasinghe and Maitland Place top hierarchy are at loggerheads since long time! However, whenever Sports Ministry in dire need of funds for other Sport, it manages it from the SLC!

In between, the date for the public examination of SLC top brass has been locked! On August 24th, the much talked about audit report on SLC’s spendings during T20 World Cup in Australia last year will be tabled in Parliament for the debate.
