Chennai Super Kings (CSK) skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni on Monday achieved yet another milestone in his illustrious 16-year long IPL career as he completed 5000 runs in the cash-rich Indian Premier League during the match against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.

Dhoni reached the landmark in style when he clobbered Mark Wood for back-to-back sixes in the 20th over after LSG won the toss and put CSK to bat.

Dhoni smacked a 89-metre six and another to send the adoring Chepauk crowd into a frenzy. A delirious crowd had their glimpse of ‘Thala’, Dhoni as he carted two big sixes before being dismissed, going for a third off Wood’s bowling for 12 off 3 balls.

Dhoni, who attained the feat in 236 matches, became the fifth Indian player and seventh overall after Virat Kohli, Shikhar Dhawan, David Warner, Rohit Sharma, Suresh Raina AB de Villiers to complete 5,000 runs in the league.
