For the first time in 4 years, the BCCI will be hosting an IPL closing ceremony to mark an end to the T20 league officially. The BCCI last hosted an opening and closing ceremony in the year 2018. Since 2019, there have been no opening and closing ceremonies because of different reasons.

In 2019, the board decided to donate the money budgeted for the opening ceremony due to the families of soldiers who sacrificed their lives in the Pulwama terror attack. In 2020, 2021 and 2022 the COVID-19 infection prevented the board from hosting opening ceremonies.

Though the board decided to host a closing ceremony this year. The mega-event will take place at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad.

The board will be celebrating 75 years of India’s Independence at the closing ceremony. Also, Bollywood actor Ranveer Singh and music director AR Rahman have been roped in for the event.

“With Ahmedabad hosting the final, we will celebrate the 75th independence of the country, marking the journey of Indian cricket with a special show,” BCCI president Sourav Ganguly was quoted as saying.
