On Tuesday, IPL franchise Delhi Capitals (DC) named Rishabh Pant their captain for upcoming season in the absence of injured Shreyas Iyer, who led them to the finals last season.

The news has left everyone excited and eyes will now be on DC’s first match against CSK on April 10. The entire cricketing world is eagerly waiting to see the captaincy of Pant in world’s biggest T20 league.

However, Mohmammed Azharuddin, the former India skipper, is having a completely different thought in his mind. He has made a big statement and said that Pant being considered for India captaincy in the future will not surprise him. Azharuddin had added that pocket-sized dynamites attacking cricket will stand India in good stead in future.

“Rishabh Pant has had such fabulous few months, establishing himself in all formats. It won’t come as a surprise if the selectors see him as a front-runner for Indian captaincy in near future. His attacking cricket will stand India in good stead in times to come,” Mohmammed Azharuddin tweeted on Wednesday.

Rishabh Pant, on the other hand, is gearing up to lead Delhi Capitals and give his ‘absolute best’. In his statement after his appointment, he said that it was his dream to lead Delhi, a place where he grew up.

“Delhi is where I grew up, and where my IPL journey began six years ago. To lead this team one day is a dream I’ve always harboured. And today, as that dream comes true, I feel humbled. I am truly grateful, especially to our team owners, who considered me capable enough for this role.

“With an amazing coaching staff, and a plethora of accomplished seniors around me, I can’t wait to give my absolute best for Delhi Capitals,” Rishabh Pant had said after being named the skipper.
