MI vs SRH: Rohit joins Raina as 2nd most capped player in IPL

Mumbai Indians have stepped into their 5th fixture of the Indian Premier League’s 2020 season as they are taking on David Warner’s Sunrisers Hyderabad. Mumbai Indians skipper Rohit Sharma has thus joined Chennai Super King’s Suresh Raina as the joint 2nd most capped player in the history of the Indian Premier League.

Meanwhile, in CSK’s most recent match against Hyderabad, captain MS Dhoni with 194 IPL appearances became the most capped player in the history of the marquee T20 league.

With Suresh Raina not being a part of IPL 2020, MS Dhoni will keep the record at least for this season if CSK make it to the playoffs. If CSK don’t make it to the playoffs and Mumbai Indians do, there’s a high chance that Rohit Sharma (with 193* IPL matches) will overhaul Dhoni’s (194* matches) record.

The Mumbai Indians skipper recently, in the match against Kings XI Punjab on October 1, joined Virat Kohli and Suresh Raina in the 5000 IPL runs club. Meanwhile, Rohit Sharma’s Mumbai with an unchanged XI have won the toss in Dubai and opted to bat first against David Warner’s Hyderabad.
