SLC rejects Crysantha Kapuwatha claim for vice presidency post!

Written by N Krishnamurthy

In an unexpected turn of events, Former president of Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) Jayantha Dharamadasa was appointed as Vice president at Maitlad Place on Wednesday, after another stalwart K Mathivana suddenly decided to resign from his post with immediate effect.

Cricket Age understand that the SLC ExCo members unanimously approved Dharamadasa’s name for the vacated post!

Now, it has emerged that after Mathivanan resigned yesterday afternoon, Crysantha Kapuwatha, the incumbent assistant secretary of SLC, also claimed for the post. Kapuwatha is also an ExCo member in the present administration.

According to sources after Mathivanan resignation, Kapuwatha immediately sent an email to SLC president Shammi Silva, claiming that he deserves to be appointed vice president, as he sees himself as the most eligible candidate for the post.

However, his claim went completely unnoticed as within few hours, SLC ExCo, in an emergency meeting, approved Dharamadasa’s name.

It is noteworthy that Kapuwatha is considered a loyal of former SLC president Thilanga Sumathipala, who is facing a lifetime ban from the Cricket, after International Cricket Council (ICC) last year exposed his involvement in betting and gambling!
