Virat Kohli is the man of all seasons when it comes to the gentlemen’s game. In the modern-era, the 31-year-old is easily regarded as one of the finest batsmen, if not the greatest. He is pitted alongside Steve Smith, Kane Williamson, Joe Root and the likes. Thus, in this regard, former England skipper Nasser Hussain was in awe of Kohli and heaped praise on the right-hander. Hussain told in a Star Sports show, “He is not worried about stats. The only stats he is worried about is the win/loss column. I was speaking to (former India head coach) Duncan Fletcher about him and he said ‘watch out for this lad. He has a real fight and character in him.”

Under Kohli, India is yet to win an ICC event since he took over as full-time captain in early 2017. However, there is no doubting Kohli’s credential as a leader of his troops, who keeps them motivated and fired up in all occasions on the 22-yard circle.

Even during New Zealand tour, where Kohli struggled to get going with the willow, the Indian captain led from the front and pumped up his teammates during pressure situations. He was lauded by cricketer-turned-commentator VVS Laxman, in this regard, while expressing his views on air.
