Shashi Tharoor questions local boy Sanju Samson’s ouster from 2nd T20I

A jampacked Thiruvananthapuram crowd at the Greenfield International Stadium gave a resounding welcome to local boy Sanju Samson when the star batsman graced the ground ahead of India’s meeting with the West Indies in the 2nd T20I on Sunday.

The packed crowd in Thiruvananthapuram was hopeful that Samson would get a chance to feature for Team India in the 2nd T20I against the West Indies in the three-match T20I series. Hailed as the toast of the evening when Thiruvananthapuram hosted the penultimate T20I clash between India and the West Indies yesterday, Sanju still sat out on the bench as his name went missing from the players’ starting list. Virat Kohli-led side named an unchanged playing eleven against the Men In Maroon.

Reacting to Samson’s ouster from the playing eleven, Congress politician Shashi Tharoor took to Twitter and highlighted the Kerala star’s absence from the 2nd T20I against the Windies.”Most of us hoped the Indian team would have made the gesture of resting a player to allow @IamSanjuSamson to play in front of his home crowd. We would have inspired him to great feats of derring-do,” Tharoor tweeted.

This is not the first time the Congress politician has batted for Sanju on social media as he has been a constant supporter of the Kerala batsman by giving him an honourable mention through his tweets on regular intervals.
