25K USD for Entire Sri Lanka T10 Team! Who’s Responsible?

Written by Pushpendra Albe

A team from Sri Lanka, that played in the just concluded T10 league in UAE, hadn’t received a single rupee as match fees until Yesterday, Cricket Age learns.

More shockingly, after Cricket Age broke the unfortunate incident, the news from the SLC is nothing more than to finding ‘Scapegoats’ again.

Now, the board is saying that a ‘Top Administrator’ couldn’t collect the money from the UAE organisers, and that is the main cause of the delay in paying the money. In recent months, that ‘Top Administrator’ has become worldwide famous due to his hilarious statements.

However, even if SLC will pay the money to players for their T10 Campaign in UAE, it would be nothing more than a joke.

According to sources, after the news leaked of non payment, now SLC stating that they will get 25,000 USD from the organisers, and distribute this money with the team.

Question arises : isn’t an outright insult for the team to get 25,000 USD for their Three matches in the league? in this scenario, each player from the 15 man squad will get approximately 1666 USD, which is a sheer insult.

According to sources, the players from other countries were paid handsomely. every team had An icon player, and hereceived 35,000 USD for the entire league. Likewise, international players received 25,000 USD, First Class players 15,000 USD and Emerging players were paid 10,000 USD.

Obviously, instead of distributing this token money to its players, including the captain of the National team, SLC must clarify who was that ‘Top Official’ that agreed to send the entire team for the mere 25,000 USD, especially when international players from other countries received 25,000 USD alone.

Cricket Age published the news before the League that Sri Lanka selectors had nothing to do with the squad, as it was a provincial team, which won the inter provincial tournament.

Cricket Age has the copy of team list, being sent by SLC CEO Ashley De Silva to organisers prior to the league.

SLC must clarify all these things!
