In a shocking turn of events, it has learnt that 40 Sri Lanka cricketers, including captain, has sent a letter to SLC, to call for an inquiry regarding certain allegations made by former selector Pramodya Wickramasinghe.

SLC has also confirmed the news of receiving the letter of the players. Sri Lanka test captain Dinesh Chandimal and ODI captain Upul Tharanga has also signed in the letter.

Wickramasinghe made some serious allegations on the Hiru TV.

He had alleged that there was foul play during the 4th ODI against Zimbabwe, which Sri Lanka lost and eventually lost the series as well, their first ever ODI series defeat against a lower ranked team.

During the show, he particularly attacked on Angelo Mathews, who was the captain during that series. Wickramasinghe cast doubts over Mathews intentions, while stating that he surprisingly came to the bat at number three in that match, against his costumory position of number five, where he bats normaly in ODI cricket. He also made allegations that in the particular match, Mathews didn’t used team’s strike bowler Lasith Malinga in a crunch situation.

The letter, 40 players has sent to SLC, is an attempt to show the support to Mathews, who stepped down as a captain after that series loss against Zimbabwe.

A key member of Sri Lanka world cup winning team of 1996, Wickramasinghe played 40 test and 134 ODI’s for Sri Lanka. He also served as a selector of the National team after his retirement.
