Four against Sri Lanka, is Rohit Sharma a flat track bully?

Written by Abhishek Patil

Even though, team India’s Dashing opener Rohit Sharma is the only batsman in the universe, to have two double centuries in ODI history, his inconsistency with the bat often raises doubts about his stature!

More worrying is his statistics in the challenging pitches are. On flat pitches, he accumulate runs like a Don Bradman! But on the pitches, that offers bounce and movement, he hardly troubles scorers!

Sri Lanka is one of the most challenging place for the openers, as batting in first ten or fifteen overs is historically very difficult on the pitches of the island.

So, no surprise, that he has failed big time there. In his last ten innings he managed a paltry 37. His last ten scores in Sri Lanka are 4,0,11,5,5,0,0,4,4,4 And he made double digit score just once.

It proves, he might not be the team India’s preferred opener in all challenging conditions! this is the thing of deep concern for team management, especially when a batsman like KL Rahul is warming the bench.
