Sunrisers Hyderabad skipper Kane Williamson said he would take positives out of a 12-run defeat to Lucknow Super Giants at Navi Mumbai’s DY Patil Stadium on Monday. SRH, who had a disastrous season in 2021, have now lost both their matches in IPL 2022.

Kane Williamson said SRH’s performance against LSG was much better than their efforts against Rajasthan Royals.

“(We put on a) much better performance from the last outing. Our powerplay bowling was good with three wickets. If only we could break the next partnership but credit to Deepak Hooda and KL Rahul. That was the difference to take them to 170. There were glimpses where we put ourselves in positions to get over the line with the bat, but wasn’t good enough,” Williamson told the host broadcasters after the match.

Williamson felt SRH could have secured their first points if only they had stitched enough partnerships during their chase of 170.

“It was a good surface. We knew if we could get some good partnerships, there was enough power in the hut. We’ll reflect on the small margins and look at the positives.

“I think the guys with the bowling roles were good. Some key death overs from us too,” he said.

Kane Williamson was happy to take a 12-run defeat to LSG after a 61-run thrashing against Rajasthan Royals last Tuesday. However, they still need to work on several areas and they would expect their captain to come to the party soon and score some runs.

Sunrisers Hyderabad next take on defending champions Chennai Super Kings who have lost all their three matches so far in the tournament.
