Sri Lanka Legend Sanath Jayasuriya, Dilruwan Perera Joins Public Protest against Economic Crisis

Sanath Jayasuriya, one of the all time greatest allrounder in the history of the game, and former off-spinner Dilruwan Perera Monday joined Sri Lankan public ongoing protest against the fast sliding economy of the Island.

Besides Sri Lanka’s President and his sibling prime minister, the entire cabinet of the Sri Lankan government has resigned from their respective posts on Sunday.

“During the past month we SRI LANKANS have suffered together silently. Everything and Everyone has a breaking point. We have reached that point. The Protests were a result of innocent people’s suffering and unfair oppression. Let us never be divided on race religion caste or party politics let’s unite as ONE PEOPLE and Stand up for ourselves, our Children and the future generations to come” he had issued statement earlier.

In last few days, exept for Arjuna Ranatunga (who still considers himself a politician) majority of former legends have expressed their solidarity with the people of the island nation.

The island nation is embracing severe shortages of food, fuel and other essentials in the wake of the country’s worst economic crisis of all time. Internet service providers were reportedly ordered to block access to Facebook, WhatsApp, Twitter and several other social media platforms in Sri Lanka amid these unprecedented times. A host of sports celebrities and ace cricketers have expressed their concern over the plight of the island nation.
