Dilshan Madushanka suffer hamstring injury ahead of First Bangladesh test

Sri Lanka’s latest fast-bowling sensation Dilshan Madushanka suffered a hamstring injury ahead of the first test against Bangladesh, Cricket Age reliably learns.

The first Test will begin on April 21, while the second and final Test will start on April 29. Both the matches will take place at Pallekele International Cricket Stadium in Pallekele.

“He suffered the injury during the practice session. We are waiting for MRI report before taking a final decision” an insider at Sri Lanka Team Management told Cricket Age.

Son of a fisherman, Madushanka’s rise is yet another rags-to-riches story in cricket field. He hails from the fishing village of Hungama in the Hambantota district and his talent was spotted by former fast bowling great Chaminda Vaas. The 20-year-old left-arm medium-fast bowler did not pursue higher studies either to focus on the game. Madushanka has studied up to Grade 11 (Ordinary Levels) and is now only concentrating on a career in the game.

A potential next big thing in Sri Lanka cricket, Madushanka’s raw pace – clocking over 140 kmph – has impressed all and sundry and so is his smooth action. Then of course left-arm quicks are a rare breed.
