Reinstated SLC employees complain to patron minister over extension period

Two out of three employees who were recently reinstated by the Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) have now went behind their patron minister again and complained about the extension period, Cricket Age reliably learns.

Cricket Age had published on May 30 that few Months ago, President Shammi Silva led administration had terminated three minor employees – Roy Perera and Hemapala (Drivers), K Leelarathne (Office Assistant) citing that they are above 60 years.

However, after the intervention of a powerful government minister, during the Management Committee (MC) meeting on May 29, all the three employees were reinstated, by giving 6 months extension.

Now, the matter has again taken a dramatic turn as, according to sources, two of them have complained that minister again that they have been given only 6 month extension, instead of 1 year.

According to sources, board president Shammi Silva was initially agree for one year extension, however a top administrator opposed the extension, due to some unknown reasons. Interestingly, the same top SLC administrator, in the same meeting, objected another employee – Confidential secretary at International Cricket Kanchana Hettiarachi – extension as well due to some mysterious reasons.
