Sports Minister Needs To Appoint New Committee To Sustain The Credibility Of Sri Lanka Cricket

Written by Rohit Pawar

Sri Lanka Cricket is in disarray again, after the Court Of Appeal has postponed the election, was scheduled for Today.

As the election thing has postponed now, at least for few month, The Thilanga Sumathipala led administration is now pushing hard to convince Sports Minister Faizer Mustapha to allow them to run SLC till the next AGM.

The Sumathipala Led administration tenure is ending today.

According to sources, on Wednesday, right after Court verdict, Sumathipala Led SLC has written a letter to Mustapha, to allow them to run till next AGM.

However, the question is whether they deserves to run the SLC Now?

Lot of notorious things have happened in last two months particularly, that proves Sumathipala Led administration has completely lost its credentials. Only very few top officials are honest and transparent in otherwise notorious setup.  Sumathipala’s own matter is in Court now, and first of all, he needs to clear himself. Ravin Wickramaratne, the main accused of domestic match fixing is still roaming around the world. Al Jazeera documentary has completely exposed the dirty game of match fixing during Sumathipala tenure. Former cricketers are crying for the change in the system, but no one is willing to listen them.
On field, Sri Lanka Cricket team is behind Bangladesh and Afghanistan!

In this scenario, there is no logic to keep persistent with Sumathipala Led administration, when they can’t deliver at any front. Sports Minister Mustapha is coming at SLC at 10 AM today to meet office bearers. Now, it’s up-to him to take the right decision for the betterment of Sri Lanka Cricket!
