England announced a 16-member squad for the three-match ODI series against India, commencing on July 14 at Edgbaston.

Uncapped all-rounder James Coles has been included for his first ODI appearance after previously being part of England’s T20I squad facing India. Fast bowler Josh Tongue, who is yet to make his ODI debut, has also been selected following notable performances in Test cricket, particularly during the Ashes in late 2025, according to the ICC website.

The pace bowling line-up is strengthened by the return of Gus Atkinson and Saqib Mahmood. Harry Brook will remain as captain, leading a side featuring experienced players such as Jos Buttler, Joe Root, Adil Rashid, Jofra Archer, and Sam Curran.

England arrive at the series following a 2-1 ODI victory over Sri Lanka in January, demonstrating resilience after losing the opening match.

Despite an early collapse of the top order, Abhishek Sharma’s aggressive innings shifted momentum before Shreyas Iyer stabilised the middle overs. However, rain interrupted play, resulting in a no-result.

England squad: Harry Brook (captain), Rehan Ahmed, Jofra Archer, Gus Atkinson, Tom Banton, Jacob Bethell, Jos Buttler, James Coles, Sam Curran, Liam Dawson, Ben Duckett, Will Jacks, Saqib Mahmood, Adil Rashid, Joe Root, Josh Tongue.
