Cheteshwar Pujara is a world class player : Nic Pothas

Sri Lankan head Nic Pothas on Friday praised team India’s solid number three batsman Cheteshwar Pujara and credited his experience of playing county cricket for the knock at Eden Gardens. In gloomy and overcast conditions at Eden Garden, Pujara once again showed character against Sri Lanka after the right-hander ended the second day’s play unbeaten at 47. Rain once again played a spoil sport on second day and kept the players indoors for major part of the day.

“He’s obviously a world class player. That innings shows his experience of playing county cricket (for Nottinghamshire). This kind of wickets and conditions you genuinely find in England. He certainly played the conditions very well,” Pothas said.

“Of course we attribute the position to seam bowling conditions, that’s fact of the matter. Pujara has batted outstandingly well in these conditions” he added.

Sri Lanka stands slightly ahead in the match, as from Saturday onwards, better weather is expected, when Sri Lanka will have to bat.
