Sanath Jayasuriya led selection committee tender their resignation

In an unexpected turn of events, Chairman Sanath Jayasuriya and the rest of the selection committee tender their resignation. the decision came mid series, as Sri Lanka is now trying to win at least one match against India to remain in the context to direct qualify for the 2019 world cup.

There were rumors about Jayasuriya sacking in the June also, when his stint as the chief selector had ended. But, than, SLC decided to give six months extension to him and his fellow selectors.

The decision will come to effect at the conclusion if the solitary T20 match against India in 6th September.

The decision came as no surprise for the Sri Lanka fans, as the team has been on a painful loosing streak. They drawn all three formats series against Bangladesh, lost a ODI series against Zimbabwe. Now, they have already lost test series against India 3-0 and ODI series 3-0, as two matches are yet to be played.

The selection committee comprising Sanath Jayasuriya, Romesh Kaluwithrana, Ranjit Madurusinghe, Eric Upasantha and Asanka Gurusinha.

This could be a new headache for SLC, as they already facing serve criticism from the every quarter of the country. Surprisingly, the decision came just few hours after Thilanga Sumathipala, the president of SLC, announced that he is not going to resign, as he is not responsible for the poor show of the team.
