Breaking! BCCI might send a second string team for Champions trophy, Gambhir to captain

Written by Shreyas Vyas

With the ongoing tussle between ICC and BCCI, there is a big news coming from the inside, and highly placed sources claimed that the Indian board is planning to send a second string team for the Champions trophy, as a sign of protest against ICC proposed new financial model.

Sources revealed that boycotting Champions trophy could put BCCI in jeopardy and isolated, as it would a breach of Members Participation Agreement (MPA), so sending a second string team seems the more logical way of Protesting for the board.

Cricket Age has learnt that in that case, regular captain Virat Kohli, MS Dhoni won’t be a part of the team for the tournament, which will start on 1st june.

Instead, BCCI is contemplating to send a team featuring some new faces like Sanju Samson, Nitish Rana, who has been shining big time in ongoing IPL.  in this scenario, Rohit Sharma or Gautam Gambhir are the front runners to captain the team. BCCI will take a official decision after the SGM meeting, scheduled on 7th May.
