Big Breaking! India might pull out of the ICC Champions Trophy 2017

Written by Shreyas Vyas

The BCCI might pull the Team india out of the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy which is scheduled to start in June next month. In a two-hour long Special General Meeting, BCCI representatives opposed ICC’s new constitution that aims to reduce India’s share.

The Board threatened to quit their participation in the tournament if their demand reinstating their initial status of the “Big Three” proposal is not met.

With the implementation of the judgment of the Lodha Committee weakening the internal power of the BCCI, the board recently has been under a turmoil, and it seems that ICC is attempting a conspiracy against the BCCI to weaken its global prowess.

Interestingly, BCCI found support from Sri Lankan, Bangladesh and Zimbabwe board for the Big Three model, and need only one-third the members to agree with the continuation of the model.  BCCI’s CEO, Rahul Johri, Treasurer Anirudh Chaudhry, Joint Secretary Amitabh Chaudhary and acting president CK Khanna were present in the meeting.
