Raging Turner caused India’s drubbing

Written by Pushpendra Albe

It was almost a dream home season for team India. They dismantled mighty England and determined New Zealand with ridicules ease, and just lazily walked through the top of the test rankings. They even didn’t let the opposition to draw any of they test. They were dominnent. They were ruthless. They were truly unstoppable.

But, even sweetest of dreams also comes to an end, at some point. so, in pune, in the first test match, Australia forced team India to wake up. Suddenly, in pune, everything was opposite. Now, not they, but Australia were dominnent, ruthless and unstoppable.

So they crashed. They crumbled. they lost, within three days. and if one calculate specifically, there were not even three full days, there were only two and half playing days.

So, what happened suddenly? they have best batting unit in the world. OK, forget the batting unit. they have virat kohli. And even some other teams entire XI can’t compete with virat alone, in runs,  records and achievements. he is the greatest batsman of this era. then they have R ashwin. best spinner in the world right now.

But, even then, they made a blunder. They started to play not on their strength, but on position weaknesses. New Zealand, England and Australia are notorious to be vulnerable against spinning tracks.

So, they prepared raging turners. pune was just like that. But first time in the home season, it backfired, as, unlike New Zealand and England, this time Australia also has two spinners, who can turn the ball miles. Nathan Lyan and Steve O Coffee gave India the bitter test of their own medicine. They were clueless, they were unprepared for this, as even kohli shouldered his arms to a SOK ball, assuming it will turn away, as ND got clean bowled.

Indeed it’s a wake up call. For team India, for management and for BCCI. when you are the best team in the world, you don’t need to prepare these kind of pothole riddled pitches. They must have to provide true sportingpitches, which must have something for the quicks as well, at least on first two days of a test match. This is the best possible lesson, they learned from the drubbing in pune.
