While India’s T20I squad continues to struggle, having lost four of their last five matches, former captain Rohit Sharma has reached London and started his preparations for the upcoming ODI series against England. Rohit, who now only plays ODIs, having retired from Tests and T20Is, arrived in England earlier to get acclimatised to the conditions.
The 39-year-old has been training at local clubs in London. He first practised at Slough Cricket Club in Berkshire before shifting to Swyncombe Cricket Club.
Rohit will link up with India’s ODI squad in Birmingham.
The three-match ODI series starts from July 14 in Birmingham, followed by the second game in Cardiff and the third in London.
Rohit recently recovered from a hamstring injury he suffered during IPL 2026 that limited his on-field appearance prior to the ODI series.
Rohit scored 16 in the first match of the Afghanistan ODIs before hitting 48 and ended with a 69-ball 79 as India completed a 3-0 clean sweep.
Rohit has an impressive ODI record in England where, in 27 innings, he has racked up 1428 runs while averaging 64.90. His tally includes 7 centuries and as many half-centuries. Five of his centuries in England came during the 2019 World Cup, which is a record for most by any batter in a single edition of the competition.
Widely regarded as one of the greatest batters to have played the game, Rohit was recently conferred with the Padma Shri award – one of India’s highest civilian honour.
