England all-rounder Sam Curran has joined the growing list of cricketers captivated by Vaibhav Sooryavanshi’s meteoric rise, calling the 15-year-old’s journey to the India squad an “incredible story” while hoping his much-awaited international debut does not come at England’s expense.

The teenage batting sensation has become one of world cricket’s hottest talking points after his record-breaking IPL 2026 campaign for Rajasthan Royals. Although Sooryavanshi is yet to earn his maiden international cap, the anticipation surrounding his debut has continued to build throughout India’s tour of England.

Speaking ahead of the second T20I, Curran admitted he had been left stunned by the youngster’s fearless batting during the IPL.

“I guess it’s an incredible story. I watched a lot of the IPL for a month, and I was just watching this guy, he looks so easy. It’s truly incredible and it’s rightly so, getting the attention he deserves,” Curran told reporters.

“He’s so raw and he’s just having the time of his life, isn’t he? Playing for India at 15 years old is such a cool story and I think even as opposition, you’ve got to admire the skill and things like that.”
