Charles Silva reinstated as Galle CC president, Galappaththy kicked out by court

In a significant development, Mount Lavinia District Court has reinstated Charles Silva as Galle Cricket Club (GCC) president, Cricket Age Exclusively learns.

Charles Silva was removed from his position last month by conspiracy and manipulation, however the district court found it unconstitutional and was reinstated with Immediate effect.

In Another important decision, the court has removed controversial and notorious secretary Ruwan Galappaththy from his position and has also barred him from entering the club, by canceling his membership.

Due to Galappaththy’s deliberate and willful act of neglecting constitution amendment directions and several formal communications from the Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) for an entire one year, one of the oldest and most prestigious GCC became a laughing stock in Sri Lanka Cricket fraternity.

Galappaththy also unauthentically withdrew GCC’s 2.1 million without the knowledge of club’s president and Executive Committee (ExCo). Moreover, the accusations were that he lent that club money to others on ten percent interest, as it’s his main profession!

The GCC ExCo, on March 29, discussed his financial irregularities and eventually he had to step down from his position and return back the club’s money.

However, the real game began thereafter! Knowing that the financial year ends on March 31, he paid back the club’s money. Then, while the Inquiry was still pending against him, an ExCo meeting was again called without the knowledge of club president and other major stakeholders and Galappaththy was reinstated as secretary, by making a mockery of the club’s constitution!
