Sri Lanka tour of Pakistan to go ahead as planned

Based on its security delegation’s report, the Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has given the green signal for the national team’s tour of Pakistan to go ahead as planned, Cricket Age reliably learns.

Whether the tour would happen had been called into question after SLC opted for a reassessment of the situation in Pakistan, but following assurances from the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), the board said they are happy for the tour to proceed.

In the last week of October, a SLC security delegation visited Lahore, Islamabad, and Rawalpindi to review match venues, team accommodations, and transport logistics. At each stop, local authorities and security agencies presented comprehensive briefings to assure the delegation of the protocols in place.

Sri Lanka’s tour begins with a three-match ODI series against hosts Pakistan, scheduled at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium on November 11, 13, and 15. Following that, all eyes will shift to the tri-nation T20I tournament — featuring Sri Lanka, Pakistan, and Zimbabwe — set to run from November 17 to 29 across Lahore and Rawalpindi.

The back-to-back white-ball contests are expected to draw significant attention as fans prepare for competitive cricket between evenly matched sides.

This tour will mark Sri Lanka’s second visit to Pakistan since the harrowing attack on their team bus in 2009. The successful hosting of this series would help Pakistan’s efforts to be a trusted venue for international cricket, after years of effort to rebuild its reputation.

As the country continues to invest in secure infrastructure and foster strong ties with cricketing boards worldwide, the return of major teams could signal not just the resumption of fixtures — but possibly a long-awaited restoration of normalcy and confidence in Pakistan’s cricketing future.

Currently, South Africa are on a full-fledged tour of Pakistan which includes two Tests, three T20Is, and three ODIs. The tour began on October 12 and concludes on November 8.
